Brazilian university investment fund Fundepar has hired Azevedo Sette Advogados as deal counsel for its acquisition of equity and debt in tech start-up Zunnit Sistemas Inteligentes.
Fundepar is a fund created and owned by the Federal University of Minas Gerais to invest in tech start-ups developed at the university. The fund paid 500 million reais (US$154 million) for a minority stake in the company. The deal closed on 6 July.
Zunnit is a tech company focused on software tools for data analysis. The investment is Fundepar’s third; in March it bought a minority stake in tech developer Techmall for an undisclosed sum, also with the help of Azevedo Sette. Techmall owns stakes in 13 start-ups. Fundepar’s first investment was in the Myleus Biotechnology start-up – also created at the university.
