Which private practitioners do GCs like best?

With so many options out there, clients can find it hard to decide which law firms to hire, so they often prefer to go off recommendations. Latin Lawyer’s sister publication LACCA has published a sneak peek at the 2021 edition of LACCA Approved, a list of Latin America’s leading law firm partners, as voted for by in-house counsel.

In the coming months, Latin Lawyer’s sister publication, the Latin American Corporate Counsel Association (LACCA) will launch the latest edition of LACCA Approved, collating the region’s leading private practice lawyers based on personal recommendations by its members, the top general counsel from around the region.

In the face of adversity, outside backup can be a much welcome relief to in-house legal teams. The public health crisis across Latin America – and the world – has highlighted this even more. Companies are seeking out law firms for an array of issues – labour and insolvency advice, for example, has come to the fore, while dispute resolution, tax and compliance are expected to see a steady increase in demand over the coming months and years. Regardless of the area of law in question, clients are looking for supportive, high-quality lawyers. LACCA Approved provides companies with recommended practitioners who satisfy these needs. The list of recommended lawyers is organised by practice area and country.

This year’s results reveal that Frederico Bopp Dieterich, an administrative law partner from Azevedo Sette Advogados in Brazil, is the most recommended lawyer in the region.

Around 40% of the lawyers recommended in LACCA Approved’s 2021 edition are from Brazil – an increase of 5% compared to last year’s rankings. Mexico was the second most popular jurisdiction, with lawyers from that country accounting for 10% of the total list. Argentine lawyers make up 9% of the list with Chilean lawyers following closely behind.

To find out which firms proved the most popular across the whole ranking and to read a more detailed breakdown of the results for each country and practice area, go to the LACCA website here.
