Azevedo Sette Advogados announces new partners in the Labor and Tax areas


We are pleased to announce that the lawyers Alexandre Pessoa and Paulo Penteado, who have broad market recognition and are considered references in their respective areas of expertise, Labor and Tax, are now members of the São Paulo office. 

Alexandre arrives to add our Labor practice, with his experience of more than 25 years managing corporate labor litigation, with great results for clients.  

The new partner worked in recognized law firms at the head of the Labor litigation team and has extensive experience in individual and collective labor actions, public civil actions, collective bargaining and agreements for judicial approval (through voluntary jurisdictions), in addition to preventive legal audits and preparatory procedures at the Labor Prosecution Office and in guiding companies to prevent litigation with consultancy and customized training, achieving reduction or elimination of relevant liabilities.  

Alexandre holds a degree in Law from PUC-SP, with a specialization in Labor Law from the same educational institution. He is the Brazilian contributor to Global Edge, a Squire Patton Boggs LLP platform (United Kingdom) aimed at professionals in human resources, legal departments, and compliance in Brazil, and he was a Professor of Legal Ethics and Compliance at LEC.  

The Legal 500, Leaders League, Análise Advocacia, and Latin Lawyer recognize him as a highlight in the labor area. He will continue his successful trajectory at Azevedo Sette, working in an integrated manner with partner Juliana Petrella Hansen and the other 17 partners of the São Paulo office.  

Paulo Penteado is a lawyer who has been working for more than 20 years in the Tax area, focusing mainly on tax consulting and tax planning for mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital, structuring of inbound (foreign investments in Brazil) and outbound (Brazilian investments abroad) transactions, corporate reorganizations, international taxation and trade, due diligence, assessment of risks and tax contingencies, structuring and participation in tax committees, estate and succession planning and strategic tax litigation. His industry expertise includes fintechs, funds and finance sector, technology and technological transactions, life sciences, infrastructure, TMT, and agribusiness.  

He has extensive experience in advising foreign clients with investments, activities, or interests in Brazil and is also admitted to the New York Bar Association (USA). He is a professor of Legislation applied to IT at FATEC Barueri.  

The partner has degrees in Law from USP and Business Administration from FGV/SP. He also holds an MBA in Finance and Controllership from USP and a Master of Laws (LLM) in Tax from Harvard Law School (USA). The legal guides The Legal 500 and LACCA Approved recognize him as a reference in tax law in Brazil.

In January of this year, the following professionals had already joined the firms partnership: Piero Sellan, for the TMT - Technology, Media and Telecommunications and Privacy and Data Protection team, Rodrigo Tambuque Rodrigues, for Litigation and Real Estate and Sergio Mirisola Soda, a partner who returned to Azevedo Sette to lead our Civil Litigation, Real Estate and middle market portfolios. In addition to the consultant Cintia Robin, specialist in complex tax issues and development of succession and international estate planning strategies, and 12 new lawyers, with excellent performance and training in their areas.
