New airport privatizations could be pushed to 2019

The next wave of airport concessions is increasingly likely to be pushed to 2019, government officials admit. The goal now is developing the model and fulfilling all requirements this year, but behind the scenes the government has already reckoned there would not be enough time to hold the auctions of 13 airports in the fourth quarter as scheduled by the Investment Partnerships Program (PPI). Meeting that plan would require accelerating the process, a prospect that could scare off potential investors. One of the main reasons for the delay is the novel way the airports will be offered, in groups, and the higher scrutiny it will generate from the Federal Court of Accounts.
