Azevedo Sette hires environment partner

Brazil’s Azevedo Sette Advogados has hired Leonardo Pereira Lamego from Rolim, Viotti & Leite Campos Advogados to head up its environment efforts.

Lamego, 36, joined the firm as a partner on 1 February. He leads an existing team of three associates. He says he was drawn to Azevedo Sette because of the Minas Gerais-born firm’s visibility in Brazil’s mining sector. The firm is well-regarded for its mining practice, which is run by firm founder and managing partner Fernando Azevedo Sette. The environment practice operates as a sub-group of the mining team.

Fernando Azevedo Sette reports an increase in demand for specialised environmental legal services, especially in its home state. “We’ve known Leonardo for quite a while and always admired his work in the region and his ability to lead teams,” he adds.

Lamego was an associate at Rolim Viotti for eight years before joining Azevedo Sette. He has been replaced by another associate at the firm. “It was not necessary to hire a new lawyer as we have an associate who has been through our training programme,” explains Fabio Appendino, a Rolim Viotti partner.
