Latin Lawyer 250 firm Azevedo Sette Advogados has promoted two lawyers to partner, boosting its corporate and real estate areas.

The firm announced the promotions of Alessandra Martins de Souza, 38, and Alessandra Lima Ganz, 37, on 11 February.

Souza handles capital markets, M&A and contractual work. She joined the firm in 2016 and has previous experience from PwC. Souza expects capital markets demand to increase in 2020 as several industries will help accelerate the economy, including the technology, health and energy sectors.

Ganz focuses on real estate matters. She heads the practice in São Paulo, while partner Bruno Costa leads the team in Belo Horizonte. Ganz joined Azevedo Sette in 2012. Before, she worked for Latin Lawyer Elite firms Veirano Advogados and Machado Meyer Advogados. She believes the real estate sector will be booming in 2020 as the Brazilian economy recovers from years of sluggish growth.

Belo Horizonte-born firm Azevedo Sette now has 300 lawyers spread across six offices in Brazil. Following the latest promotions, the firm counts 39 partners and five counsel. Azevedo Sette elevated four other partners in 2019 by promoting an M&A lawyer in June and making new labour, litigation and wealth management partners in May.

Well-known for its M&A and mining practices, Azevedo Sette recently advised Vale on a US$550 million acquisition of a counterpart company. The firm also displays robust tax, labour and litigation practices.

In 2019, Azevedo Sette established a promising compliance practice by hiring prominent practitioner Isabel Franco to lead the team.
