Brazil’s Congress, through Legislative Decree 559/2010 published in the official gazette on August 9, has approved the pending Brazil-Venezuela income tax treaty, signed in Caracas on February 14, 2005.
The treaty was submitted for review by the Chamber of Deputies on May 23, 2005, and then forwarded to the Senate.
To become effective in Brazil, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva must issue a presidential decree incorporating the treaty into Brazil’s legal system.
