Azevedo Sette toasts new partners

Azevedo Sette Advogados has celebrated its 44th anniversary by announcing the promotion of four new partners at its Belo Horizonte and São Paulo offices.

They are Ana Paula Terra in Belo Horizonte and João Carlos Horta in São Paulo, both specialists in M&A and Corporate Law; Joyl Gondim who joined the firm’s São Paulo office as a lateral hire in 2009 to strengthen the M&A and Corporate Finance departments; and Mauricio Domingues who was responsible for coordinating the litigation department also in São Paulo.

The news comes less than a month after Azevedo announced it had hired the former deputy general counsel of Brasil Telecom, Aldo de Paula, as a partner and head of its tax consultancy practice.

The recent promotions, with their strong focus on M&A and corporate finance, looks set to reinforce an expansion strategy that sees the firm focusing its promotion on ‘new business’ areas, such as M&A and foreign investment.

Ana Paula Terra, 34, João Carlos Horta, 31, and Joyl Gondim, 31, will become partners in the corporate departments of their respective offices, with Mauricio Domingues, 35, promoted to partner in the civil litigation department in the São Paulo office.

According to Ordélio Sette, the founding partner of Azevedo, the latest round of promotions reflects an expansion strategy that seeks to position the firm as one of the most prominent in Latin America.
